Doctor Strange was certainly a masterpiece compared to the contemporaneous Spider-Man, or Captain America. Man, did you ever see those Cap tv movies?!

Me, I’m currently watching my way through Linda Carter’s Wonder Woman, and lovin’ it. “Fighting for our rights, in your satin tights, and the old red, white, and blue…” Ahhh, those were the days.

I have seen that Doc Strange movie several times and it is OK…but just OK. Compared to the calibre of superhero movies fans could expect back in the day, it was a masterpiece, though. Did you ever see that Aquaman pilot? I think it was actually a student film, so in that context, well done. But for years I thought it was an official pilot, and I had nightmares.

With the kinds of comic book inspired movies we are getting now – Iron Man, Batman – and just how fantastic they are, wouldn’t you love to see Doc Strange get the same treatment? Top of the line script, special effects, the whole enchilada?

Man! I salivate just thinking about it.

I realized a long time ago that even when I disagree with Spurgeon, I respect his opinion and his presentation.

I enjoy Heidi’s site, but yeah, some of the comments are just too funky. Oh well, we can always just scroll.

That’s funny, because a few weeks ago, that movie was running on Sci-Fi or something, and the listing gave it THREE stars! I recorded it, but haven’t watched it yet.

And I agree re: Tom Spurgeon. I check Comics Reporter, The Beat, and Journalista every day, but his is my favorite. None of the snark of Dirk’s site, or the stupid comments-page flame wars of Heidi’s.

Oh, I remember that Doctor Strange movie. Made for TV as I recall.

I think we are all holding out for a GOOD Doctor Strange movie.

But there was a Doctor Strange movie. In 1979. With John Mills, no less, as the Ancient One….

And there was a full-length animated film a year or two ago.

I daresay, however, that they’ll eventually get around to a new one — after Cap, Thor, and the Avengers. It could feature a cameo by Stan as Wong, perhaps. Or, come to think of it, he’d be a pretty sure bet for the Ancient One himself these days.
