Government's don't care about creator rights. They care about money. Governments need tax dollars. They will do what they have to do to get those dollars. So yeah, I agree that they will be going after advertisers, etc. Probably after the US government realizes they are one of the advertisers.

I like the idea of going after the advertisers on pirate sites, especially as accomplices in an illegal activity.

That charities and good causes are among those is sad, because it means those organizations are NOT paying attention to where their marketing department is placing things. Letters should be sent to them, pointing out that their advertising is appearing in sites engaged in illegal activities.

I realize that some of those organizations probably just sign up to be in something like Google Ads - which I'm guessing doesn't really tell the organization WHERE the ads will be appearing. As far as I know, it is the site that has control over what types of ads appear (ie, blocking ads that are not age-appropriate for a "family friendly" site). But if the site doesn't care?

Yeah... I'd definitely recommend writing the organizations and point out that they are supporting illegal activites by advertising that way. (And isn't it ironic that DARE, a program closely connected with police departments, would be "supporting" an illegal activity - even if it is "merely" copyright piracy?)
