Fortunately I had the girl who was catsitting for me book the hotel. We got the one we usually go to, nowhere near the convention site but right at one of the most popular bus stops/gathering places, but not without two hours of fighting the website. She is my hero :-) And I just got my pro badge taken care of this morning (thank god for that; 4 day passes are already sold out!) so I'm all set. For once :-) I was in England when the hotels opened up. Fortunately I had the girl who was catsitting for me book the hotel. We got the one we usually go to, nowhere near the convention site but right at one of the most popular bus stops/gathering places, but not without two hours of fighting the website. She is my hero :-)

(I book through hotels.com) My usual pied-a-terre, which is 12 miles out from the Convention Center (and is a nice little place), was considerably more expensive when I booked this year (admittedly, I did it in March rather than the usual February). I ended up getting a room near Sea World - which is actually only 7 miles away. Yet another year of getting up really early so I can get into the Convention Center parking before it fills up. Ah well. It is getting more expensive, though.
