Watchmen Review
Took day off.
Hrm.
First day off in months.
Clean air, trees traded for stink of city. Cesspool academic town full of leftists, students, and sissies.
Dollar theater good deal. Brought can of beans. Ate cold.
Not really, got popcorn like everybody else.
Fooled you.
Big drawback: mom wanted to see movie, too.

Very uncomfortable thinking of Schlussel review, then sitting with mom watching Watchmen. Thinking of naked Owl superhero guy horizontal rhumba in owl ship. Watching Watchmen rhumba next to mom.

Mom liked it. A lot.
Movie that is. Not so keen on sex. In movie, that is.
Mom liked Rorschach way too much.
Hrm.
Big blue shiny peen major bonus for me.
Good movie. Will get dvd.

Glad you liked the movie, Colleen. Good point about Debbie Schlussel. Reminds me of a lot of self-righteous “think of the children types” who watch stuff they deem unsuitable. I’m sure the producers thank them for their patronage.
I started getting Rorschach’s voice as I read your post and then came to the line “Big blue shiny peen major bonus for me” and hearing that in Rorschach’s voice cracked me up a bit!
I tried to observe locker room etiquette and just keep my eyes up.

I can’t imagine watching a sex scene in the presence of my mother. Just too weird. (Yes, I do know how I got here, but it’s my *Mom*!)
(Not that it’s going to happen since she’s gone now, but I felt a bit odd when I found out my parents had watched a R-rated comedy I had mentioned enjoying.)

I saw the movie and enjoyed it as well. I liked Scott McCloud’s joke about it. “That was the greatest $150 million dollar ad for a comic book ever!” I’m paraphrasing but only slightly.
Looking forward to the DVD of it.

I am glad you liked the movie and got to see big blue. After the first few minutes, it wasn’t distracting for me as I got wrapped up in the story and special effects.
