I once endured a guy who was exactly like the people seen in this video. His negotiating slogan was, “Jew them down.”
Ugh.
Oh, to be at a show and have someone claim they can get a COMPLETELY ORIGINAL SKETCH IN COPIC MARKER of their role playing game avatar for only $10, and you’re just being unreasonable expecting anything more!
Fun times.

Working in the hotel business as I do, I often see another type. The ones who try to get free or discounted nights by complaining. I have to be really careful of my expression when people start spouting off about Com-Pen-SA-Shun. Which isn’t to say that there aren’t many legitimate complaints, but you can usually tell the ones out to get something for nothing. My ex had a co-worker who thought it was a fun game to play until my husband told him that he wouldn’t travel with him any longer if he didn’t stop.
Oh, dear, yes, that is exactly the sort of thing my former acquaintance would do.
For the longest time, I thought he was saying “CHEW them down.”
He bragged about all the free stuff he would get with creative complaining. It was disgusting.
Colleen…. for only $10? Heh. See, what you should do is tell that person what the GOING RATE for you is on commissions at that con, and then offer to do a sketch comparable to whatever percentage $10 is to the going rate.
Like “For $10, I can give you the sketch blocking of the figure, but not any finished features. You won’t be able to recognize the figure, but, well, that’s all you’re paying me for!”
I’d love to see *that* fan’s expression.
For the person who asked via email: No, of course the revolting man who used the phrase “Jew them down” wasn’t Jewish.
