Dang! You would offer these when I have no money to spend on such things! If I had the cash in hand, I would soooooo snatch up the Aeren piece!
*sigh*
Lovely work, Colleen. May it bring you lots of sparkly change!
LOL! Well, putting art up for sale the week after San Diego is probably not my brightest move, but there you go! I’ve had a few inquiries. We will see.
BTW, I also love the Aeren piece. It is some years old. I didn’t intend to sell it, but a girl’s gotta pay Master Card and Mistress Visa.
I hate Mistress Visa. Every month it’s “where’s my money?”, never mind that she tacks on interest on top of it!
Mistress Visa is a bitch. We hate her. We especially hate CITIBANK for upping our interest rate even though we have NO LATE PAYMENTS. We hate them all.
And we can’t buy a thing unless we pay cash now. We promised us.
Which means no Watchmen Extended Directors Cut DVD until we pay our bills.
God, we hate Citibank.
My preciousss…my preciousss.
Yep, it never fails, I just got back from San Diego and I have no money. So I have to pass on that great Aeren piece.
But on the other hand I did pick up some nice pieces including one that I had gently but persistently asked the artist about selling for a few years.
LOL! Well, I’ve gotten a couple of offers to buy if I cut my rate on the A Distant Soil cover, but nah. I think my prices are fair. I hope I have some takers, I’d really love to pay off my debt and kiss Visa and Mastercard goodbye.
However, halving my prices won’t put me in a better position than I am in now! LOL!
So, what did you pick up in San Diego?
BTW, sorry to be such a slow blogger, I really am getting more work done. Except for yesterday, I totally vegged. Went to Farmer’s Market, got ice cream, caught in huge storm. Kinda fun.
The piece that I referred to was The Legion 33 cover by Chris Batista. everytime I saw Chris, I told him
” I love that cover, i can see why you kept it .. but if you ever think of selling it, let me know”.
This year he said ” I will sell it, if you want to pay my crazy price”
And he named it and I said “Sold!”.
So in addition to the other stuff I picked up, now you know why I am broke.
I have it posted here-

I also picked up from Sanford Greene, the cover to the final issue of the LSH in the 31st Century, the cover to the upcoming Supergirl Annual by Renato Guedes and a couple of Kurt Schaffenberger Supergirl pages.
SuhWEEET!!! Those are some prime catches! You must be giddy.
That is some awesome, awesome art.
I am only just now feeling human after going straight from Comic-Con to the day job. Wish I had more pictures. ;/
Hey Colleen…you were missed at San Diego This year….I remember getting that Seren piece at the last moments of the con….it was great to see you then….
Hey Kids, Aeren is now sold.
Hey VT and Superboy! Man, the show sounded like loads of fun and as much as I wished I could have gone, I am grateful for all the work that got completed while I was home!
Don’t hesitate to post some cool con tales! I bet lots of people would enjoy hearing of your adventures. Including me.
My goodness, Aeren is a popular fellow. I had five other emails asking for that piece, but it went to the first inquiry.
I will see what I can dig up of similar interest.
I just sold a piece of art I didn’t even post, so that was cool.
I’ve had a couple of requests to dig up some related works, and I will see what I can find. Oh lordy, I sacrifice my art children to pay off Mistress VISA.
I knew that Aeren piece would go fast.
Since I had spent most of my money by Friday, on Saturday I wandered up to the autograph area and got autographs of Erin Gray and Gil Gerard for some friends who just bought the Buck Rogers DVD set. I also got one of Maud Adams for my brother who is a big James Bond fan.
They were all very friendly and both Erin and Maud still look good.
Someday… that cover painting will be mine! I hope you still have it at that point, but if someone has the means before me, so be it! I think your prices are very fair. I bought a Jody Lee painting a few months ago that was far more than what you’re asking. (Which is also why I have no budget left for additional art until I sew my ass off!)
i like Jody Lee’s work. Don’t blame you for picking one up!
I probably won’t be doing a lot of original cover paintings anymore. The speed and ease of digital art has completely won me over. It took me ages to get the hang of it, but now that I “get it”, I can see why so many people never take up original art at all. Original art is MUCH more difficult.
At the very least, the originals I do will get more time and attention form me, because I can do my assignments more quickly, and then can spend more time on private work.
As soon as I stop inadvertently deleting everything I type in my precaffeinated stupor, I’ll have a post up about it.
I’ve posted, realizing the stories must be saved for email, because I don’t want to give myself a namedropping black card. ;/
There are lots of photos with my commentary here.
WAY COOL!
