I want to thank all of the new readers. The average ADistantSoil.com reader spends nearly a half hour a day on the site, and our weekly views run as high as a full hour. Average page views are running at a dozen per day, with a bounce rate of less than 30%. Every hit helps the site pay for itself, and your interest tells me I am doing my job: providing you with comics you want to see and articles you want to read.
I was told to write short and shallow “bullet point” blog posts to get as many hits as possible, but I write what I want to write. Comparing similar sites to mine, they may get more unique hits, but the customer’s interest runs shallow: readers drop in for 1-2 minutes and then leave without turning the page.
Fewer readers who drop in, stay a half hour a whack and read a dozen pages, are better than more readers who just skim and don’t absorb what you have to say or notice what you have to sell. Hm?
We’ve gotten some great links and rec’s lately, and I imagine our traffic will even out and mellow pretty soon, but it’s nice while it’s lasting!
