Harlan Ellison Nominated For Grammy Award
on December 8th, 2009Harlan Ellison, writer of many glorious things, is also a very talented voice actor.
He has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Spoken Word for Children category for this performance of Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There. The website has a sample, as well as easy online purchase options.
At AudioFile: “Ellison’s jaunty reading provides just the right mix of whimsy and awe for the story’s rhymes and clever characters. The pleasure is infectious.”
I have many of Ellison’s CD’s. It is a great pleasure to draw comics while listening to a terrific story performed by an actor with a compelling voice. Harlan Ellison is outstanding.
In ancient days, I bought Ellison on albums. Good lord.

I still have two vinyl Ellison albums. One is signed, so that will remain in my collection forever.
I’m not sure if I still have any LP’s, but I did not sell any of them until I had the CD’s.
I was just looking around the office, and kind of surprised myself – I have so many audiobooks!
I have great audio library books intended for school children. Many great short stories and poems on them! I bought them for a song on ebay.
O. Henry, Amy Tan, Guy de Maupassant, Beryl Markham: they may have been intended as teaching tools for 10th graders, but they provide about 40 hours of listening pleasure, and I only paid about $10 for them.
The drawback: made before info was embedded on the disc. Kind of a pain.
