I cannot contain my excitement! How thrilling! If about 50 of you vote for A Distant Soil, we make it into the TOP 100 WEBCOMICS! After that, I want world peace.
You may vote once a day, and I wish you would.

This whole tree farming thing is dandy, the first quarter mile uphill.

Yeah, baby. I am dazzling in my flannel.
Another look at the hothouse.

The big jug at the bottom of the photo is full of water. The jugs are painted black and stacked around the interior. This helps the building retain heat.
Wah! I leave off with the shameless vote shill for ONE DAY and we dropped ten points in the rankings!
Oh, the shame! Don’t force me to commit seppuku to restore my honor. Vote for A Distant Soil!!!
Most sincere thanks to our noble patron Raymond Parungao whose generous donation bringeth unto him a hot page of original art from A Distant Soil.
Aeren doesn’t appear in this book very much, but it is amazing how many people want pictures of him.
The dude’s got the mojo.
Off to the post to ship all of these loverly pages for the loverly people who participated in the A Distant Soil donation drive. I am flattened with happiness and appreciation! Might make it hard to drive.
I hope you all enjoy the pages I have chosen for you. I had no problem giving everyone a really nice page featuring the characters they wanted. That said, I noticed that all the really sexy pages of Bast seem to have been picked over. I’m sure there are a few more in the pages which haven’t been archived, but I haven’t had a chance to go through that stack yet.
I’ve been holed up here on the farm for weeks and weeks, and I have hardly had time to go out for a burger.
That said, if you go to McDonald’s, skip the Holiday Pie treat. Damn, that was nasty. I don’t have a clue what was in the middle of that pastry food item. I get out so seldom that going to McDonald’s seems like fine dining, but I will be a long time losing the radioactive glow that sparkly cake gave me.
Here’s a look at the doings in my hothouse:

There’s a small milk heater in the hothouse which turns on and off automatically. While everything in the greenhouse is going home to Jesus, the hothouse is toasty and everything’s coming up, including the roses. Except this is a picture of Impatiens.

Quite nice to be in here and to see the snow falling as I putter with my plants. I wish we had clear glass instead of the heavy plastic. I’d love to have a better view.
But no call to be choosy. This hothouse was given to us by a neighbor – country neighbor definition, which means “a few miles down the road”.
Her husband built it, but passed away long ago. It was rotting and damaging her house, so she offered it to us if we would cart it away. My dad got the handyman to help out, and they attached it to the barn. Almost all final work has been done by my dad. The handsome board slats inside also come from an old house which had been torn down. They are very thick and sturdy: better than we could buy.
It’s delightful to be able to grow flowers in the winter. The herbs love it in there. Not so much luck with veggies, yet.
UPDATE: any and all ebays and donation incentive art has now shipped.
And now I have to get back to the commissions and limited editions.
