Hey folks.
My awesome MAC Pro Tower of the Gods is in the shop. That’s the bad news.
The good news is I will bet money that it is a hardware problem and there is nothing to fear. I’ve been having a recurring problem with the display, but all systems are go for memory and software.
This hiccup has been going on for days and on the day I called the tech to come out here, the monitor died. The computer starts up fine, I hear the happy MAC sound, but nothing comes on the screen.
The other good news is, the entire system is under warranty until 2011. Whatever the repairs are, they won’t cost me a dime.
I’m on my laptop and can still post, but my scanner is not compatible with this machine. If I have to, I will go into the city for scans, but there may be a delay of a day or two on the webcomic. Tomorrow’s, post will be on time, and here’s hoping we’re back up and running by Monday’s deadline.
Thanks!

Amend that: while I may not be able to upload any new story pages, I have a number of very nice pinups and character portraits I am sure you will enjoy. They are safely stored on my external hard drive. Some of you may have seen one or two of them before, but I just want to keep up the momentum on the site. We’ve been getting such great traffic lately, and I don’t want to let anyone down.
Of course, many story pages are also on the external hard drive, but they have not been formatted for the web, and I can’t do that on my laptop.
So, story page tomorrow, and a nice pinup on Monday.
Thanks!
yay for pinups! Get better soon, Mr. Mac!
I’ve never used my laptop to go online before. I feel so modern.
I started thinking of all sorts of suggestions for you to try, then reread the post and realized it was already in the shop. Duh. That definitely sounds like a hardware issue with the monitor or video card. Major bummer to have the main working machine be out of commission.
But hey, now you can experience the joys of the laptop! I like to drag mine all around the house with me. Because, you know, answering email from the kitchen is totally crucial.
Yeah, we are pretty certain it’s a monitor-related issue, and I am not at all concerned about my archives. My only gripe is how long it may take to get part delivered.
I am waiting to hear back from the tech this afternoon. If I have it back before Tuesday, I will be very much surprised.
OK, I confess, I am just annoyed that I can’t use my big screen computer as a TV. I got season 3 of The Tudors and want to watch it in widescreen glory.
Good news: It’s a blown video card. And easy fix, but the part has to be ordered, so I probably won’t have it back until Wednesday.
Definitely a good news/bad news thing then. But at least it’s not anything more drastic. Whew.
