I tend to avoid blogging about anything but art and entertainment, but I suppose this is tangentially related, since Pat Robertson is behaving like a clown:
“Something happened a long time ago in Haiti and people might not want to talk about,” Robertson said Tuesday.
“They were under the heel of the French, you know Napoleon the third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said ‘We will serve you if you will get us free from the prince.’ True story. And so the devil said, ‘Ok it’s a deal.’ And they kicked the French out. The Haitians revolted and got something themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after another,” Robertson said.
Thanks for making Christians look bad.
Someone needs to put this cash cow prophet out to pasture.
Here is a link to a story about different ways you can donate to aid the Haiti earthquake victims.

UGH! Bigots like that really make my blood boil!
I read your comment over at The Beat about the Archie exhibit, that’s deplorable as well. Dan DeCarlo’s name was edited out of reprints of a story in which Betty had said he was her favorite artist (it became “the entire Archie staff” or something like that).
By the way, thanks again so much for the art pages! I’m saving up to get them framed. I’d do it myself, but knowing me I’d goof that up.
Sigh. Robertson is a false prophet, and a truly awful human being for capitalizing on this disaster for money and attention.
As for the rest…
You won’t hear much about the Archie contracts because of confidentiality clauses. Which are not in Marvel or DC agreements. I’m sure they will be furious at me for me saying it, but it’s the worst kept secret in the business.
At Marvel and DC your name gets on your work, you get incentive and royalty payments, and you get significantly higher page rates. As work for hire agreements go, they aren’t bad at all.
I suppose someone from Archie could threaten to sue me for saying their work for hire contracts suck, but I’d just send them a bill for a like amount — consulting payment for drafting a more ethical contract for them.
Someone from Archie was reading my blog today, tracking back from The Beat.
I was looking forward to doing a job for them, but gladly walked away. They would need to add another zero to that check.
Pat Robertson opens his mouth too much, talking about things he knows little of. And then badly represents the one thing he supposedly does “know”. *sigh*
These reports form Haiti are heartbreaking.
We had an earthquake here not long ago, and I made a joke about it when I first heard about the Haiti quake. I had no idea it was so serious.
As if Haitians don’t have enough problems.
“Pat Robertson is a numbskull. And in related news, water is wet, bears defecate in the woods and the Pope is indeed Catholic. More after a word from our sponsors…”
Haiti’s infrastructure is so lacking, it’s really gonna be bad for them.
In the crackpot race, actor Danny Glover pulls into first place past by declaring that the earthquake is the fault of our failure to address global warming.

I knew all those films with Mel Gibson would rot that poor man’s brain. Daaaaaang.
