Funnily enough, I watched it last night and discovered that one of the contestants is someone I knew briefly years ago. It was a strange sort of realization that yes, these are in fact real people.

I like this show as well as Top Chef for the same reasons you do, Colleen. First, that they are competing and being judged on actual skill, knowledge, and craftsmanship, and secondly, that some of them are old enough to rent a car.

There was talk of a similar show for artists. That sounds terrible, though!

I really love watching people who exhibit dedication to craftsmanship. Which is not merely a matter of taste. The design show focuses on what the people actually make with their own hands. I respect that.

I also like the fact that contestants aren't all a bunch of kids. Many are mature, experienced adults.

And SQUEE! Pamela moves to the next round!

Given that my first serious ambition in life (after my five-year-old dream of being a ballerina was shattered by learning I was going to be "too tall") was to be a fashion designer -- I'm not keen on watching others go through the paces. Because, other than the matter of custom designs requiring the designer to actually LISTEN to the client, I'm not really interested in the opinions of "Powers that Be" about what is fashionable. I'll just go with what looks good on the person wearing the clothes (because not everyone can where what might currently be "in fashion").

But enjoy yourselves! And her's hoping Pamela does well!

I usually don't watch a lot of reality TV (no, really) but I like this show because of the emphasis on the quality of the work. Sure, there's a lot of drama, but I am primarily interested in seeing the best person win, not the biggest show off, or the most devious person.

Either the clothes are good or they're not.

If it were still on Bravo I'd still be watching. But I refuse to watch the "assault a woman a week" Lifetime network. Ever.

At least the reruns of previous PR seasons are still on. Those are classics.
