You know, it suddenly strikes me how rarely the term ‘mind rape’ is actually used within the work itself, for all its used a ton outside it.
I totally approve.
It’s interesting to see him willing to do this, even when he wasn’t when the person in question was closer to home. Is that because he’s ‘Reiken’ right now (complete with personality, from what I gathered from it,) or because he’s in love with D’mere?
I think in this case, his choice of action is because the invasion of the authorities is literally about to happen, whereas D’mer being snatched from him is still only “probable” and not immediate. There might still be some options to save D’mer. But with the guards banging on doors in this Resistence area, there are no other choices.
Even so, you’re right, in that it’s an interesting character point, particularly what the different aspects of his personality are willing to consider.
I didn’t even think of that, but you’re right. Being forced to act quickly I’m sure has a lot to do with it.
