I wish I could remember where the heck I heard it, but D’mer’s crack at Bast was something I have paraphrased from an insult hurled at former French ambassador, the late Pamela Harriman.
oh hee hee I just realized something *spoiler omitted* but ha ha Bast… it does not pay to be too smart…
She has a way with stating the obvious – telling him that most of the other staff would prefer him dead. If she has to, she only has to wait around for him to die.

Well, we have to give Bast props for recognizing D’mer’s assets.
I love Bast’s hair. I even love her monologues. But when she speaks to D’mer as if he’s less than the dust beneath her feet, I want to wrap all that lovely black hair around her elegant throat and hang her from the ceiling.
On the other hand, the “ceiling/sheet” remark and retort is classic.
