You guys are awesome.
Some donations come in the form of very welcome cash. But sometimes, lovely people like Sarah Beach send boxes of Godiva chocolate.
This watercolor/colored pencil piece was originally created for a small series of trading cards featuring independent comics. These are the only trading cards for A Distant Soil made. I later used this piece on the cover of ADS #14.
The Facebook fan page is here.

You can’t see it, but my inner-artist is in the corner crying out feelings of inequity. And joy for the beauty of that piece.
That is very kind of you.
I am working on a similar design for a t-shirt, but frankly I am so swamped with work right now, I haven’t been able to finish any ADS designs. I’m going to be under the gun for at least four more weeks.
Things should start to clear by late November.
Wow… I don’t think you intended to, but I can see this as a stained glass window!
I don’t know how much they cost to produce, but ever thought of selling ADS cards via artists alley or mail order? $5 with signature? Easy to mail, to cart around. (Have you sold your various cards (Hitchhikers, Xxxenophile, for example) before?)
Yes, of course. I have done that before. Plenty of times.
I simply don’t have time to handle anything extra right now.
I do not have the right to manufacture cards based on licensed product I do not own.
Since I am not doing any shows for the forseeable future, I won’t be manufacturing anything for that market.
@ TORSTEN: You’re right, this would make an awesome stained glass window!
@ Megan. Colleen’s art often makes me whimper too. Mostly due to sheer envy but sometimes the whimper is followed by a heart felt ‘phwoooaarr’ {British expression short for “Oh my goodness he is nice looking, I’d like to take him home and show him my etchings.”}
BWAHAHAHAHA!
This sort of thing is why I feed her chocolate.
It also makes me cringe and think “Who am I to think I can draw pictures? Mine will never be like Colleen’s.” But then I rethink, and decide that’s sort of the whole point – we’re not meant to draw like each other, we all have our own visions. But I still sniff because I’ll never get quite that sensual beauty she does.
@scribblerworks: you can feed me chocolate any time!
And yeah, speaking of stained glass, there ARE stained glass paints you can use to turn regular glass all pretty with something awesome.
@Colleen: I hope you’re work goes well and you get the break you deserve soon!
Oooooo… shiny!
I have done stained glass paint on windows. It’s fun and you can just peel it off when you want to remove it. Bonus is that it affords you a little extra window privacy
