OPERATION SANTA’S HELPERS
At Christmas, they will use all the money raised on local kids. They arrange a special shopping spree at the local Wal-Mart for underprivileged children. The children will go through the store with an adult volunteer – Santa’s Helpers – and may spend their money on anything they want. This guarantees the children will indeed have a merry Christmas.
In the past, the Santa Maria Aerie raised money to buy bicycles for underprivileged children for Christmas. Now they are expanding their goals, the children could get bicycles and much more.
Instead of raising $2,000 or $3,000 for bikes, the goal now is $15,000. That would allow the Aerie to sponsor 100 children – with the kids spending $150 apiece on anything they want for the holiday.
Wal-Mart is on board. Wal-Mart employees have volunteered and Wal-Mart itself said it would pay all the sales taxes so that each child’s $150 could be spent entirely on Christmas.
