Whoa! Kovar is TRUSTING D’mer? This is serious!
Hmm, lesser of two evils? I’ve been assuming that Kovar knows there’s a sincere attachment between Seren and D’mer so it’s logical to trust him, even though he classes as a vastly inferior animal, and use him as cannon fodder. One may also assume that being disrupted would be quite a noisy way to die and D’mer buying the farm might give Seren time to wake up and take to the Ovanan equivalent of the heather.
I like the two conversations occurring simultaneously. Bast shows how little inferiors mean to Ovanans and makes Seren’s concern look either as though he is still hurt and grieving or that he’s still annoyed at the betrayal, depending on how cynical you are. I also like D’mer’s concession that he believes Bast genuinely cares for Seren, but note that he doesn’t make it until he is confirmed in his place in Seren’s bed.
LOTS going on and some super facial expressions [Kovar grimly embarrassed is a particular treat] . Lovely.
I’m totally loving Kovar on this page. Sexual tention between him and Seren? Something else? And “She can care for him in her room alone”. He’s got some dry sense of humour there.
I totally can’t wait to finish my book so I can read the slash fanfic.
I can’t think why I put those leaves in the BG of that panel.
meanwhile I’m loving Seren’s very curt takedown of Bast: “NEVER do that again.” Good for you!
