ACK! Not his hair! I love Kovar’s hair – it sets off his… ahem… anyway. It’s so gorgeous and shiny, cutting it would be such a shame!
The first few panels are interesting, Seren and Kovar look like a child asking his father to read him a story. It really shows how much Seren relies on Kovar to protect and care for him.
I so enjoyed this drawing this sequence. I am so very glad you like it! I’m especially happy with the hands.
And I think the Major is maybe fibbing a bit when he says he’s not a vain man.
I know I’ve broken down into tears when I’ve had a bad bad hair cut. Loosing my locks… not good. Kovar’s sacrifice…
Oh.. and panel 5… soo… I dunno… just… if I didn’t know better, I’d say they were lovers.
Maybe I’m being sexist here, but it seems to me as there’s a difference between the sexes on how we regard and/or value hair. It doesn’t bother us men how it looks, as long as we have any, but then, when we grow old and we start to lose it, then we REALLY fret over it! For us, it’s more about keeping it, rather than how it looks, I’m afraid. At a certain age, it may well look like a small animal had died up there, as long as there’s *something* there..
Aw, now that’s a raging generalisation of the male sex and one I know not to be true.
Couldn’t Kovar just… trim it? Loads of sexayh human mens have long hair. He’d be right at home in a metalhead gathering. With a destroyed black band shirt. And torn up jeans. And some leather…. rrrawr… where was I? I think I lost my train of thought.
Oooo, slouchy yet shiny black leather jacket! Wooooooo!!! Okay, better stop before I drool on the keyboard.
I see what Coleen means; if Kovar wasn’t a tiny bit vain, then why do his clothes fit so nicely? If he wasn’t vain at all, he’d dress like Jorvana. She didn’t try to accentuate the positive – she just tried to hide everything. Poor woman looked like an escapee from a bad Beijing opera.
I dunno, Mikael, I think a woman who loses her hair has a bigger problem than a man who loses his hair. With men it’s sort of expected, with women it’s a trauma.
I think hair loss can be aging on some men, but on others it just looks great. Much better to lose all hair than to cling desperately to some sad wisps of it.
I had very pale, wispy, straight hair as a kid, and wanted lush, wavy hair. Now I have tons of wavy hair, and all I do is complain about it, and blow dry it pin straight. One of these days, I am just going to go pixie cut or something. It really does look ridiculous right now.
@ Zowie: I know lots of military men and such who would never admit to being vain, but holy cow. I believe “body proud” is the term men like to use. It’s fair to say that Kovar does not have an excessive belief in his assets, because they could not be overestimated. So, I suppose he is more proud than vain.
and think of the difference in reaction between Kovar losing the tresses and oh say Emeris. One curl lopped off and it’s llamas for everyone!
LOL at Kovar’s assets not being able to be overestimated.
Zowie, I don’t think Kovar’s body is capable of slouching. I think it has some inherent correction mechanism that keeps everything (oh, boy, bad double entendre coming) upstanding.
WAAAAGGGHHH! Gratuitous double entendre alert! LOL!
Hey, I just realized, I bought this page from you. I wanted the following one but that was gone so I took this one. Just to have a panel where Kovar says “I’m not vain” so every time I look at it I can think “you probably think this comic is about you”
LOL! Actually, I think I do have the next page in here. My files were not in such good order before.
With men it’s sort of expected, with women it’s a trauma

Agree. The sad part for us however, is that it’s really expected – almost with certanity. I’ve seen friends put things up there that are really not from this world, but there it is, trying to pass itself of as hair. I don’t see many women do that.
All I can really say is . . .
**SOB** Kovar may not be vain for his hair, but I am! **WHIMPER**
. . . please, Major, don’t do it . . . **bawls**
