The Barry Lyga GN is very near completion. Weeks later than I had hoped, but it’s not coming out until late next year, so no major worries. Had brutal learning curve on the digital inking I did for the book, which really slowed down the process for awhile. Now the stack of finishes, far outweighs the stacks of need to finish, and that makes me deliriously happy.
Just saw first set of dummy pages! So exciting to see the art laid out in order. Strange to spend months thinking of it as bits and pieces of things that need to be done, and then to see it as a complete tale told.
My two GN’s for Vertigo will be done by April, and I already have a new GN contract on my plate for a fully painted GN after that, my first in almost two decades. I can’t say anything else about it at this time, but it is a very exciting project and means I am set for assignments until early 2012. And yes, the income on all my work now is good enough to finance part time work on A Distant Soil.
Speaking of which, Image just let me know yesterday that A Distant Soil Volume IV is going back to press. The bad news is this is a big bite of cash that will take awhile to earn out, but it’s great that all my books are now in multiple printings. We’ll be making some cosmetic changes to the front and back matter, and correcting a few major typos to the edition.
My other two GN’s for Vertigo will be complete in April. Year’s worth of work is now coming together. This is a great way to move into the Christmas season, with lots of meaningful books, with great creators and editors, with top publishers, and thousands of supportive readers. Thank you so much!!!
Thinking of Gone to Amerikay, here’s another visit with Irish balladeer Ken O’Malley! Thanks to Ken for letting us post his music here! You can find out more about Ken at his website where you can order his fantastic CD’s. Naturally, the Christmas CD makes a lovely present…
