Hey, folks! Sorry about the radio silence, but I am just finishing off the super-secret Barry Lyga graphic novel, the GN so stealthy we can’t even tell you the title.
The drawing is done, but there’s a few corrections needed. A handful of final pages need to be uploaded. So, I am staying off the net to keep from taxing Hughesnet’s stingy satellite resources.
I can’t tell you how excited I am to complete this original 108 page graphic novel. I just saw a preliminary PDF: it is so much more attractive and exciting than I hoped it would be! I know you guys are really going to love this book!
I’ll be back next week with more posts and chatter. In the meantime, here’s a special offer: get the A Distant Soil Sampler Pack, a terrific deal on a variety of books, a print and a documentary dvd at a super low price!
Join the Facebook Fan Page and get a chance to win a page of original art from A Distant Soil! When we reach 1,000 members, one lucky winner will be chosen from the membership!

Your characters are so damn expressive. I find myself so impressed with every page and it just keeps coming! Wonderful! Please excuse the envy of an amateur
Please excuse the delight of a pro who happily dances in the light of your in your kind comments!
And the Lyga GN I just finished: has some of my favorite body language and expressive work. Really happy with it.
I particularly like Liana in the center panel with the subtle change in Jason’s expression.
Yes, a beautiful page this one. Goes to show the importance of capturing believable body language in strip art.
It’s also a bit of a masterclass in the depiction of texture: those outfits are clearly made of different cloths, Liana’s light and swirly, D’Mer’s stiff and starchy. Just by looking at the picture you know how they feel to wear.
That’s very kind of you.
I was just going over the final art on the Lyga book, and body language is very important there, too. I am happy with how it turned out.
