In honor of St Patrick’s Day, we’ll have a full page original art preview from Gone to Amerikay, the upcoming graphic novel written by Derek McCulloch and drawn by me, with colors form Jose Villarubia, coming from DC/Vertigo in 2012.
Dead Can Dance is an Australian on-again, off-again World Music/New Age group, and Loreena McKennitt is Canadian. She also specializes in World Music/New Age themes, but most of her best work reimagines Celtic music. My favorite of her songs is an original composition set to the Tennyson poem “The Lady of Shalott”.
“The Wind That Shakes the Barley” also appears on Loreen McKennitt’s new album. Free samples at the Amazon link.
This video appears to have been loaded with the permission of the band. I avoid loading anything that does not appear to be official, so if there is any problem, let me know. At the very least, this is one video that ought to inspire you to buy one awesome album.
Upcoming pages, including this one, print in the books as double page spreads. The way the blog is set up, they won’t post correctly. Fortunately, the pages break in such a way that the pages can be cut in half and posted as you see here, without causing too much disruption in the storytelling.
To thank my online readers for their extra-generous support this year, I will post all double page spreads on consecutive days instead of on M-W-F. So tune in for extra posts for the next two weeks! Thank you!
Our most sincere sympathies to the good people of Japan in the wake of the terrible disaster yesterday. I know we all want to help, but think before you donate.
Please avoid text donations. It can take months for the donation to reach the charity. The money has to be processed through a third party company, and that company gets a fee. Donate directly at the charity’s website, if you can. Don’t give via social networks or telemarketers.
We all want to do the right thing, but slactivism doesn’t help anyone. Make sure every dollar goes to the people who need it, instead of into the pockets of middle men and opportunists. Let’s all help Japan wisely.
