I have been waiting for this scene.
“Niniri, you were my mother.”
Reading this through the first time… I… freaked.
It still chills me to the bone.
I think Niniri is either bipolar or suffers from selective amnesia, she KNOWS what Sere did to little children.
The Queen of Denial.
Time for a little shattering of that pristine self-image there (and I’m not talking about Seren’s!
)
actually she’s just stunned that she’s not as smart as she thinks she is and someone figured out her control scheme. Bonus stun for the fact that Seren figured it out on his own. She probably assumed no matter what she did he would never ascribe her actions to intentional infliction, that he would always give her the benefit of the doubt. Now she knows she’ll never be able to control him through his own beliefs about her, her psychic leash is broken. Unfortunately there are other more traditional leashes…
**shudders**
I’ve witnessed breakthroughs like this before. They were horrifying. Seren is so much braver than he thinks he is, to confront Niniri alone.
Not a happy scene.
