Colleen, I love your use of imagery as foreshadowing. The first thing I thought when I saw this page was, “It’s like a stage set, and who knows when the curtain’s coming down.” Then I looked at the arrangement of the ropes, and was reminded of both a spider’s web and a gallows. None of it foretells any good; it’s just a question of who the message is intended for.
Oh, yes–the fact that Niniri and Liana are dressed alike creeps me out. It’s like seeing the photographs of Joan Crawford and her daughter Christina dressed in matching outfits.
And Niniri is “behind the throne”. Such elegant storytelling through image.
I love Colleen’s work.
