My auctions will continue for a few more weeks. ALL my work, including all book sales end mid-October. I will be out of the country and cannot ship. If you want ANYTHING for Christmas, please don’t wait! I won’t be doing any US appearances for about 8 more months, either.

I see Seren’s finding that the strength he always credited to Rieken, whether or not he realizes it.
A friend of mine recently started therapy for the sexual abuse she suffered as a child, as well as for the physical and verbal abuse she suffered at her mother’s hands. I’ve been cheering her on, as I know you can’t move forward without confronting your past. It seems here that this is just what Seren’s doing–finally confronting the demons.
Wow, very sorry for your friend.
Thank you for letting me know the characterization here is one the right track. This scene gets more unpleasant.
You’re on track. As someone whose childhood was similar to Seren’s (down to things I loved being killed if I didn’t submit enough), the progression is spot-on.
I am deeply sorry these bad things happened to you.
If it helps, your graphic novels were some of those I read as an escape. I think I told you a while back that they were among the books I took when I ended up on the street. The parallels can be weird, but you’re doing a good job.
Emeris’ expression in panel 4 here — “Booooring.” He just doesn’t understand how some people actually learn and gain strength to resist.
I’m always touched when I hear of people who have gone through this sort of abuse, and yet manage to make something positive in their lives.
I am so glad you picked up on that expression. I love it when you guys let me know I am able to convey the right things via nothing more than an expression.
