I work in an alternative school with such children and usually when you ask, yes they can get defensive, but they usually stick with “no nothing’s wrong” until they get to know you. Then when they know you, know you, and trust you they will tell you quite a bit. They usually don’t lash out like that at the first overture though. Just eye you like a weary animal.

Is that troubled female pupil pregnant? And if she is….there is a story about a monk in ages past who was a woman who become a Drag King, to get the gig in a monastery. Pregnant girl named the Drag King as the father – knowing `he’ was too sweet to get her the death sentance. Drag King accepted the blame, and only on `his’ death was it found to be impossible (coz `he’ was really a `she’), Now here we have Aeren, a (pregnant ?) girl, and a whole can of worms called `DNA Testing’………….. AAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! 🙁
