I don’t think it’s posting spoilers to say that when I first read this sequence it really dawned on me how much worse Niniri is than Sere. Sere is just an overgrown child. Niniri may mind that Sere took Trieset out of his nursery, but not enough to protect him from Sere if it will really keep her away from Seren.

Which, of course, it really won’t, but Sere’s named her price and Niniri has agreed to it.

What occurred to me on the heels of that realization might be construed as a spoiler, so I’ll leave it there.

At least I hope I am able to approach his balance, and decorative use of black and white. The goal is to give the impression of color where there is no color.

I recall an enthusiastic fan once going on about someone’s costume. He described the red outfit, which, of course, was in black and white. So, either I created the effect I was going for, or the fan was having colorful dreams about my work.
