Sounds like the animals around your Dad have all read “The Silent Miaow: A Manual for Kittens, Strays, and Homeless Cats” by Paul Gallico! It’s a self-help book for cats on how to go about getting humans to take you in, give you a home, love you, and worship the ground you walk on. Published in 1985. I first read it when I was still in high school. It’s a hoot if you can find a copy. Apparently it was also published on Ovanan and Kimar!

He hates animals in the house. Snarls about it. No pets. Gets around pet. Growls at it. It comes over. He lets it nuzzle. Then he scratches it. Then it purrs. Then Dad says he’s going to kill it. Then he pets it for two hours. Feeds it treats. Then the animals saunters away. Then dad growls and says he hates animals. Then he goes out and buys treats. Keeps them for feeding the animals he says he doesn’t want.
