• MERRY CHRISTMAS! NEW!

This is the first time this has been published. This portrait of Seren is based on a pen and ink drawing I did way back in 1989. I wanted to practice my digital painting skills, so decided to give this a try. It took about a day to redo this work from scratch! While some of the snowflakes are mine, others are from a Photoshop set by Meldir, which you can download for free from here. I didn’t intend to go quite this far when coloring the piece! I thought I would just do comic book style colors, but I just kept going! It’s also great to have some time…

  • Liana

This is a convention sketch that I’d hoped to color and post here, but I did not realize the scan is of very poor quality, so it would be a wasted effort. Sorry about that! I have been out of town for a whole week and didn’t get much art done, so Thanksgiving will be catch up time for me! My family will be here for the holiday, and we are all a jolly bunch, so I expect to not only have a lovely time with them, but to be happy and content making art. I wish all of you a wonderful holiday! If you are looking for a unique…

  • Avatar

This piece has a convoluted history. It was published in a color version of the series in 1989. I was never able to get a good scan of the art, so did some digital tweaking years later. It’s some of my earliest digital work, so it has issues. I didn’t even know how to use layers back then. It’s still a nice image, and I’m glad to be able to bring it to you in a good scan. NOW AVAILABLE! Get AMAZING FANTASTIC INCREDIBLE STAN LEE signed by Colleen with FREE shipping, a FREE signed comic, and a FREE mini print! The cover with fancy foil and embossing which totally…

  • A Distant Soil Spanish Edition

There was a Spanish edition of A DISTANT SOIL, published some years ago. I’m afraid I never saw a copy of it, nor was I paid for it, so there you go. I’m told the printing quality was awful. It’s the sort of thing that happens when someone thinks they can get good results out of scanning from a book art that uses tone sheets, and then reprinting from those scans. You get mud, is what you get. Anyway, this cover has a couple of different versions, but this was only seen in Spain.

  • D’mer in Flames

The original to this watercolor art is long gone, and the art had to be restored from a copy. I did some digital tweaking as well. I’ve had to do this on a number of cover pieces, and I really have to resist the impulse to just redo the art from scratch.

  • D’mer

This is one of my earliest attempts at digital color. I tested myself on many of my old drawings, such as this one dated 1989. But I really didn’t understand much about layers, saving files, etc, so many of my pieces were not saved at proper resolution. This one is at a decent resolution, and could be used for print, if need be.

  • Cari and Tiar

This is Cari and Tiar, the elder brother and sister of Jason and Liana. They’ve only been seen in A DISTANT SOIL: SEASONS OF SPRING, a prequel to A DISTANT SOIL I haven’t finished yet. You can read what I have finished so far on this website for FREE. This is another one of my early digital color experiments, and the high res files have been lost. So this has been posted from a lower res image. Fortunately, I have the master files of the pencil art, and redoing the digital color shouldn’t be too hard, in case I need it for print. I quite like this image!
