D’mer: Alternate Cover
I didn’t really get the hang of digital painting until recently. For most of my career, I’ve done analog art, and making the transition was a little rocky. When I first gave it a go, it was hard to find a place to get any kind of training. In the end I had to muddle through on my own, though there are so many great online tutorials now, I bet I would have made a lot more progress had they been around 10 years back!
Anyway, since my digital skills were limited, I balked at doing the cityscape I was aiming for on this cover, and tried dropping in this blue background. Didn’t use it in the end, but it’s still kind of fun. The painting is a bit under par, but I love D’mer’s joyous attitude.

This is one of those times where you add IN BED to a line, and it just makes it everything.
