It took me awhile to get used to drawing and lettering at the smaller original art size I had adopted a few pages earlier. If you compare this art to the pages I posted back in June, you’ll notice the line quality is much smoother and cleaner. These pages were drawn nearly ten years later. I put a lot of angry energy into the old line work. I like this line sense much better. The art and lettering are starting to work together here.

I remind myself how old this page is so I won’t weep over the wonky lettering. Thanks to my generous patrons for their support. Page 1 of A Distant Soil #12. Circa 1996! Holy cow. Seems like yesterday. Except my lettering has improved somewhat over the years. I hope. These were also the first pages I did to American comic proportions, so they are easier to read on the website. The originals are very small, almost as small as manga-sized originals. For some reason, my previous publisher insisted on doing their graphic novels to magazine proportion. No one does that anymore, and the sizing has caused minor problems in every edition of the book since.
